Attend Conference on World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, June 15th

Thursday, June 15th is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day.  It’s a sad fact that about 5 million elders, that is 1 in 10 elders in America, suffer with some form of abuse, whether neglect, mistreatment, or financial abuse.  To combat Santa Clara County elder abuse, the Department of Aging and Adult Services is hosting a conference to discuss the issue of abuse.  There will be several interesting talks.  Lisa Nerenberg, of the California Elder Justice Coalition will discuss the work of the CEJC in developing strategies to combat elder abuse.  The kinds of scams that target elders and how to combat them will also be discussed.
